In December 2020, Helen Bauer Design was brought on to design and create a custom illustration for South Bend's key to the city.

The final key is made of pewter and depicts a stylized downtown South Bend skyline that includes the LaSalle, Morris Performing Arts Center, Liberty Tower, St. Joseph County Courthouse, the Tower Building, and the Jefferson Bridge.
